Organization:
How is AGI impacting the SSA community through its software? How does AGI software contribute?
AGI has 22 years of corporate investment related to SSA applications. AGI’s commercial business model contributes readily available commercial software products and solutions to prime contractor integrators, civil and government organizations within the SSA community.
Over the years, AGI software has been an enabler in various ways, including:
o Producing critical operational decision-making tools
o Advancing the state-of-the-art in foundational SSA capabilities-such as conjunction assessment, prediction, and trending
o Providing analytical modeling and visualization assessments for a significant number of SSA related events such as the Jan 2007 Chinese ASAT test, March 2009 Iridium-Cosmos collision, and various others.
o Delivering operational tools and solutions with a focus on affordability and efficiency.
What are some examples of how AGI's capabilities are used and how has it helped improve their work?
The most visible examples would include safety of spaceflight with conjunction assessments and predictions. Another example includes predictive modeling and analysis of potential space threats.
Also noteworthy is the processing of traditional and non-traditional data sources with a high degree of accuracy and knowledge to improve overall awareness in space. These and other examples have helped organizations across the DoD, intelligence, civil and commercial communities to meet mission objectives and deliver results to support effective decision making.
This SSA software suite provides the ability to produce comprehensive SSA capabilities, including significantly improved orbital accuracies, a High Definition space catalog, conjunction assessment, and efficient sensor tasking. These functional capabilities are designed to be highly automated and scalable automation and SCA automated and leverages a highly scalable open, non-proprietary open architecture. This architecture implementation enables web-based user interactions in an App-Store-like environment.
AGI is set to display its Space Situational Awareness (SSA) integrated product suite at USSTRATCOM Cyber & Space Symposium in Omaha. Can you explain a little more about this?
AGI’s SSA software suite provides the ability to produce comprehensive SSA capabilities, including significantly improved orbital accuracies, a high-definition space catalog, conjunction assessment, and efficient sensor tasking. These functional capabilities are designed to be highly automated and scalable. This architecture implementation enables web-based user interactions in an App-Store-like environment.
There was a high priority for SSA in the National Space Policy. Since coming out, have you seen a rise in the demand for SSA software?
The National Space Policy has appropriately prioritized SSA and established the fundamental elements to be addressed, which include the sustainability of safe space operations and cooperation with commercial and international partners. The prioritization of SSA being a fundamental element within National Security Space has been the catalyst for engaging dialogue with government, civil, and commercial organizations. These interactions have certainly resulted in organizations with an SSA mission to seek modern approaches to satisfy operational requirements that improve national SSA capabilities.
Fundamentally, robust SSA requires cooperation between satellite operators/owners and those operating observation assets.
Have you seen increased cooperation among and between different sectors when it comes to SSA, and is there room for improvement?
Absolutely. Since the stand-up of the Space Data Association (SDA), the commercial sector’s collaboration and cooperation within the owner/operator community has significantly increased.
A relevant outcome to this collaboration has been a standard way to share data and a common platform to communicate and exchange relevant SSA information. While the commercial owner/operator community continues to develop and realize the benefits of collaborative SSA, there are also significant opportunities for collaboration across other sectors including government, civil and international.
The benefits of collaborative SSA have yet to be fully realized and there are many opportunities to collaborate at the operator level to significantly enhance SSA and safety of spaceflight operations.
